We stayed in total 6 nights at the Beachwood campsite. During this time we visited the Birch Bay area, went in duo-ride with Mieke to Mount Baker, had a nice lunch at a beach café, prepared some fresh mussels and started finally to watch ‘the wire’ ( an old HBO series). We’ve been invited by Desmond and Hans, 2 Canadian fellow campers, for an apero, which was really relaxing. On Thursday, the motorbike was finally ready, so together with Kelly, the manager of the campground who offered us to stay for free, we went to pick him up. David has been very lucky, the rear bearing was a total loss, but luckily there was no other damage which who have been certainly the case if we would have waited some more days. Such a happy ending and again a proof that we have a guardian angel watching over us. To celebrate the happy ending we went with Kelly for a drink at a local brewery in Bellingham and in the evening we were invited by Desmond for a nice BBQ with local ingredients and fresh vegetables. Despite the unfortunate situation, we had a great and unforgettable time and met some really nice people! On Friday we finally hit again the road and left early because we need to catch the Alaskan maritime ferry on Tuesday 26th of June in Prince Rupert to go to Haines. After a very smooth border crossing to Canada, no check of the luggage or motorbikes, only a few questions and we are good for 6 months travelling in Canada. We drove around Vancouver, up to Whistler and Pemberton to Lillooet. After being hit twice by a real wall of rain (thunderstorm and lightening) we decided to stay at a campground in Cache Creek. Today we woke up in full sunshine & blue sky (it didn’t stop raining during the night) and we took HW97 via William Lake, Quesnel and ended in Prince George. The scenery we crossed was a mix of lakes and pinewood and sometimes we felt we were in the Nordics. Canada has the impression to be more peaceful and relaxed compared to the US, although the big diesel trucks are omnipresent. During one of our stops we also had a nice chat with a Canadian motorbiker who will ship his bike to New Zealand in January 2019. Again some inspiration for the future 😊
