Day 120

It was only our third day in Canada and we saw our first black bear alongside the road in the lake district of BC. It was a nice welcoming surprise! As the lake district tells it all, the scenery was brilliant. Although the thread of the rain clouds, we were able to spent a dry evening at the campsite outside Smithers with a view on the Hudson Glacier. During the night the rain clouds became effective, but luckily for us, the morning was again dry. We followed in Kitwanga the Skeena river and via Terrace we ended in Prince Rupert where we had a short but dry night because we had to check in for the Alaskan Maritime Highway ferry at 4.45am😊 After a 5 hour waiting time (including again an hour change -1), the ferry finally left. During 2 days we enjoyed the magnificent view over the Alexander Archipelago and fjords. We spotted some whales and seals in combination with an overload of glaciers. The ferry trip was really smooth, we’ve exchanged some travelling experience with some campers and sailors from Texas, South Carolina and Oregon. Once arrived in Haines (6pm), we went to the closest campsite (the salmon run). From the campsite we have a wonderful view on the Gulf of Alaska in combination with the lovely midgets or black little biting flies …
