As promised, here an update on our stay in beautiful QuĆ©bec. On Tuesday morning we left the campsite with our first flat tire on the journey. Mieke was the unfortunate one. But thanks to handy David and the existence of the mushroom repair kit, we succeeded to be on the road in half an hour š.
We first drove along Lac St Jean, where we noticed the more European influence in the Province compared to the rest of Canada ( small villages, cottages, fromageries,ā¦).
We left the lake shore and turned into the mountains direction QuƩbec. The road was curvy and drove fluently into the city.
In QuĆ©bec weāve stayed for 3 nights at the municipal campsite.
Wednesday and Thursday, both motorbikes received a well-needed major service at BMW Vanier and new pair of dancing shoes (in the meantime > 45000km). The service was very professional and friendly. During our 2 days in QuĆ©bec we had our private guide, Yvon LāHeureux ā ambassador of MOA QuĆ©bec, with whom we got in touch thanks to Guy Timmerman ā president of BMW Club Vlaanderen.
Yvon took the time to guide us to the old part of the town; the citadelle, the fortification around the town, ChĆ¢teau Frontenac, Terrasse Dufferin (St Lawrence River boardwalk) with the āglissade de la terrasseā (fun during wintertime), his home where he lived as a youngster in the old city,ā¦
The second day, we picked-up Mieke and Jaak and drove together with Yvon to the Ćle dāOrlĆ©ans, which each real QuĆ©bequois needs to do once a year š. We loved QuĆ©bec, it was a cozy, quiet and peaceful city!
Today we left the city via the east side of the Lawrence River (hwy 132). Itās a beautiful road along the river shore and the sea. We had the feeling to be somewhere in France with all the boulangeries, vignobles, fromageries,ā¦ Itās a completely different Canada than the wilderness into the other provinces.
To be honest, the combination of the nice weather and the smell of the sea, made us stop earlier at a campsite on the beach where we made some new friends, miss kitten and mister & misses chicken. Currently we are enjoying a beautiful peaceful sunset.
Btw; during an earlier stop today, weāve met Carlo (an Italian guy who drives several motorbikes) and who invited us to his place in Nova Scotia to taste his homemade wine and grappa. His home address is already stored in our GPS and you will certainly hear more about him in the future.
