Day 206

206 days ago, we started in the winter, followed the budding of the leaves in spring, tried to catch the sun in the summer and finally meeting the red colors of the fall.

We left PEI in the rain and drove towards the sunny little Italy in Nova Scotia, Malagash.

As you remembered, we met Carlo on the road and he invited us to stay at his cottage. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and met with his lovely Cathy, Mimi and Italian friend, Renato. The first thing we had to do was eating a fresh pesto pasta with homemade bread and prosecco. We immediately knew this would be a very hard place to leave.

During the afternoon we went to a local brewery in Tatamagouche and tasted a flight with several beers. The evening was well spent with again a nice diner, lovely wine, homemade grappa and fantastic company.

On Monday we helped Carlo with netting the vineyard together with Renato. It was a very sunny, warm and great day. In the afternoon, Cathy took her to her friends (very friendly and welcoming) and showed us as well the neighborhood.

Thanks to this intense visit, we felt very comfortable in Nova Scotia and the Canadian lifestyle. Nova Scotia is definitely a place that felt like a possible new habitat, never say never.

With pain in our heart we left Cathy, Mimi and Carlo on Tuesday, but we have a souvenir in our paniers for the dark days ahead.

Via the beautiful innerland of Nova Scotia we drove into the direction of the south shore. We ended up in a closed campsite with free firewood and cozy campfire.

The rest of the days we drove along the shoreline of the atlantic ocean via Peggys Cove to end today in Baddeck where we will meet Alan and the rest of the guys who will drive tomorrow the ‘fall ride’. Baddeck is also the city of Alexander Graham Bell of whom we visited the national museum.
